Campbell named CCSSA director

Debra Campbell has been named the new director of Cass County Shared Services Arrangement. CCSSA oversees all special education services in five districts: Atlanta, Avinger, Bloomburg, Hughes Springs and McLeod.

Campbell has more than 25 years of experience in special education. She received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Texas A&M University–Commerce. In addition, she holds her Master of Science in Educational Administration from Texarkana A&M University–Texarkana.

“I am excited and honored to be here helping families get the best services for their children,” Campbell said. “Every kid needs something different, and every community has something different to offer. My background has prepared me for evaluating our programs and working with teachers to better implement the services our students need, and to be able to work in the community in which I live is such a blessing.”

She began her career as a special education teacher and taught for 15 years. She was a special education consultant with Region 8 Educational Service Center for five years. She most recently served as the Assistant Principal for Special Populations at Texas High School in Texarkana for seven years.

“Mrs. Campbell brings new ideas and a vast knowledge of special education services to the position,” Atlanta ISD superintendent Jason Harris said. “We were also looking for a director who would be goal-oriented and have a passion for special education. Mrs. Campbell came with everything we were looking for, and she’s a perfect fit for us.”
