Debate team places at Henderson meet

The Atlanta High School debate team traveled to Henderson High School on Saturday, Oct. 1, where they competed in policy debate, extemporaneous speaking and congressional debate.

Junior Autumn Cook took first place in persuasive extemp and senior Manuel Olvera placed fourth. 

In informative extemp, senior Cademon Larson placed first, sophomore Michael Dubuisson placed fourth and junior Emma Lanier placed fifth.

Cook and Lanier placed fifth in policy debate while Larson and sophomore Ivy Alfaro placed seventh.

Alfaro and junior Kennedy Harrison made it to the second round in extemporaneous speaking.

Also attending the meet were juniors Dasia Jeffley and Jon Kennedy who competed in congressional debate. Freshmen Carson Mathis and Hannah Sullivan learned a lot in their second policy debate experience.
